Industrial Applications

CPLDs, with their highly parallel processing architecture, nanosecond response capabilities, and exceptional timing control accuracy, have become core components in modern high-end instrumentation design. In the field of precision measurement and control, CPLDs are gradually shifting from their traditional supporting role to carrying critical system functions. The AG32, with its integrated CPLD core featuring 2K LUT logic, perfectly supports a wide range of precision instrumentation products and has been widely adopted in high-end scientific instruments in China.

There are numerous digital mini oscilloscopes on the market that are exceptionally compact and portable. Most are single-channel, with a standard 100MHz bandwidth and 500MS sampling rate. The AG32 is currently widely used in these oscilloscopes, effectively helping manufacturers reduce bill of materials (BOM) costs.

The CPLD in the AG32 implements the data interface for the high-speed AD9288 used in digital oscilloscopes. This clock speed reaches up to 100 MHz, and ordinary MCUs lack a similar synchronization mechanism for reading data. CPLDs excel at parallel acquisition, analysis, and processing of large amounts of data. Even with DMA data readout, this 125 MHz (overclocked) high-speed AD data sampling frequently competes with the MCU for the AHB bus, resulting in extremely low MCU operating efficiency. Using the CPLD for cache would be much more effective, significantly reducing AHB bus preemption. This gives the MCU more time to refresh the waveform display and perform certain human-machine interface operations. The CPLD can also perform scaling and filtering on the acquired data, minimizing data processing before displaying the waveform.
